Without a doubt, “The greatest Sama’s ever” took place in May 2012 to much acclaim from both critics and fans around the country. theProject’s own, Elmir Arnautovic, appointed as the Executive creative Director for this years’ production ensured that the 3 hour ceremony was packed full of content, entertainment, and interest to keep both the audiences at home and in the venue glued to their seats.

Responsible for all creative and content elements, theProject further provided VT elements, such as the all-conquering “Hitting the High Notes” miniseries which premiered during the show, as well as audio visual design elements for night one of the proceedings, which was not broadcast to the nation.

From creatively managing the stage design process, carefully working out all performance elements, running orders, scripts, we are proud to have been associated with this successful production.

Hitting the High Notes with Hotstix and Riaan was an idea borne out of a need of creating some unique VT entertainment for the 18th Annual South African Music Awards.

In the past, VT inserts were not as detailed as they should have been, and this year, our own Elmir Arnautovic, the duly appointed Executive Creative Director of the show suggested that we do some SNL style skits based around personalities which wouldn’t be typically associated with the youth, urban, street music scene.

A personal favourite, Riaan Cruywagen was approached with the idea of reviewing the Top 5 album nominees for 2012, and he was accompanied by none other than Sipho ‘Hotsitx’ Mabuse as his partner in crime for these sessions.

Their on screen chemistry worked wonders, and Hitting the High Notes with Hotstix and Riaan was a runaway hit with audiences everywhere.

Everybody knows HHP. Those who don’t should. Widely credited as the default option on the SA’s Hip-Hop scene, Jabbaman mentioned a piece of unique content to us whilst on an audition for a potential MC role for a music show.

Once we heard it, we were dying to be a part of it, and after many weeks of negotiations, have finally managed to convince the legend to go forth with theProject on turning this little “shower melody” into a fully-fledged, theatrical music video, the result of which you see here.

Premiered at the 18th Annual South African Music Awards, “Sandy Mauritius” has become a hit with the audiences, both in the Superbowl and at home. Directed, conceptualised, styled, and produced by yours truly.

Instead of offering up traditional printed material for the newly launched Audi Q3, the Middle East dealerships opted to instead showcase the vehicle’s specifications in the form of an interactive touch screen presentation, and allow themselves the flexibility of regular updates and content changes.

theProject developed a bespoke iPad application, one unique to each dealership in the region, housing a variety of multimedia content, from specification document unique to the models in the dealership, through to the ones which can be ordered, video material, as well as image galleries.

Further update to the app will include the users’ ability to be able to email themselves the content on the app, as well as to post content from the app on a variety of social media platforms.

theProject was tasked with executing a mobile version of Audi’s online presence in the near and middle east. Taking the current site, ensuring that the content management behind the scenes worked effortlessly on yet another platform was no easy task, and the mobile website is a monument to some very clever technical manipulation.

Updated with content every time the “mothership” gets a new injection of freshness by theProject team, the mobile version automatically benefits with content which is tailor made for the platforms which it services.

A first in the region, the Audi mobile site is leaps and bounds ahead of its competition in the same arena.

When Audi South Africa announced that the new Audi A6 was a frontrunner in the 2012 Car of the Year competition, theProject produced a short “emo trailer” for presentation purposes to the press contingent. A hybrid composition, it was executed using a variety of platforms, from 3D material and model generation in Maya, through to final compositing in After Effects.

The result, a visually very pretty edit, was further augmented by some custom audio work done at Rocket Sound, to ensure that the final product received the final finish that was expected of it.

“Why I left Goldman Sachs”, by Greg Smith was the creative treatment behind this introductory piece to a recent leadership seminar held by Discovery Health. Based on the edited narrative, the visual representation shows the world in a different light, the one where governments are corporations, and scenarios in everyday life are a jumble of either profit or loss.

Visually appealing, and combined with a great narrative, this piece was a hit with conference atendants ovwer a 2 day period.

For the launch of Comedy Central, MTV Networks came to theProject with a clear brief of localising as much international content as possible for the launch of this mega channel in the African market.

From run of the mill promos for existing content, through to re-versioning the global identity for local use, and finally generating some custom content, theProject has been flat out busy on this commission for a period of 8-9 weeks, readying the channel for launch on the 6th December.

Creative and design direction, scriptwriting and general production and talent management in association with MTV Networks resulted in one of the more exciting creative deliveries in 2011.
